The causal model of post-divorce adjustment based on, social and Psychological factors in divorced women of Shiraz

Background and objective: Embryonic and extrauterine life along each other determine the path along which a person's growth and development is influenced by genetic, environmental and social factors. Prenatal events such as premature birth, low birth weight and low Apgar score can affect life after birth. The aim of the present study was to determine the correlation between birth Apgar score and cognitive development and symptoms of behavioral disorders in children and adolescents born in three time periods in 2006, 2009 and 2012 in Hafez educational-medical center located in Shiraz. Methods: This research was conducted by descriptive correlation method and 300 children aged 5-12 years entered the study. In this study, neonatal Apgar score and other information related to neonatal at birth were extracted from delivery records. The children in this study did not have a congenital anomaly at birth and did not have an accident or trauma. Symptoms of behavioral disorders in these children were assessed by the Rutter Behavioral Disorders Questionnaire for parents with 97% validity and 92% reliability. Data analysis was performed with SPSS software. Results: The results showed that the correlation between Apgar score and cognitive development was equal to 0.351 which is significant at the level of P <0.01. In other words, there is a significant relationship between Apgar score and cognitive development. Also, the correlation between Apgar score with Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), antisocial behavior, maladaptation, anxiety and aggression is 0.368, 0.265, 0.419, 0.434 and 0.553, respectively. All of them are significant at the level of P <0.01. That is, there is a significant inverse relationship between Apgar with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, antisocial behavior, maladaptation, anxiety and aggression. Conclusion: Factors that reduce the Apgar score at birth can affect cognitive development and behavior in childhood and adolescence and cause many problems. On the other hand, On the other hand, more hospitalization of these infants in their intensive care unit can lead to disruption in the child development
